Wednesday, March 12, 2008

The Penguins will play an exhibition game in Finland this fall.

They will face Jokerit, one of Finland's best-known clubs, at Hartwall Arena in Helsinki Oct. 2 before playing a two-game series against Ottawa in Stockholm, Sweden, Oct. 4-5 to open the 2008-09 season.

"The entire Pittsburgh Penguins organization is excited about the prospect of playing against Jokerit in Helsinki," Penguins general manager Ray Shero said in a prepared statement. "We are looking forward to bringing NHL hockey to Sweden and Finland, which are great hockey countries, and we hope that fans from all over Europe enjoy the international competition."
