The prosecution in the federal corruption case of former Allegheny County coroner Cyril Wecht rested its case after calling its final six witnesses this morning.
And then in a surprise move, defense attorney Jerry McDevitt rested his case without calling any witnesses for the defense.
The jury was dismissed for the day.
Dr. Wecht has been on trial for more than six weeks on charges that he used his public office for private gain.
Attorneys are scheduled to give closing arguments Monday.
