SPECIAL NOTES

Guide resumes -- The 2008 construction season is officially under way, so the PG has resumed Sunday transportation advisories.

Pothole hot line -- Report potholes on state-maintained roads to PennDOT at 1-800-FIX-ROAD. Report potholes on local roads and streets to municipality where they appear. Pittsburgh residents should dial 311.

INTERSTATES

Parkway East/I-376 -- The next phase of rehabilitation is starting over the March 29-30 weekend between the Edgewood/Swissvale and Churchill interchanges. One inbound lane closed for slab repairs.

I-79, Allegheny County -- Preliminary work to begin about three weeks from now for reconstruction between the Ohio River and the I-279 junction in Franklin Park. Traffic will be maintained on the new northbound lanes while contractor works on the southbound side.

PENNSYLVANIA TURNPIKE

Traffic stops -- Traffic will be stopped for up to 15 minutes at a time from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. tomorrow, eastbound only, at Milepost 3 in Beaver County; from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. tomorrow, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday nights at Milepost 36 near Richland; and from 11 p.m. to 5 a.m. tomorrow, Tuesday and Wednesday nights at Milepost 70 in Hempfield. All stoppages are related to ongoing overpass construction.

STATE HIGHWAYS

Route 19/51, West End -- Intermittent 15-minute traffic stoppages in both directions 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. this week as part of excavation for $52.6 million West End improvement, a project being done in phases through mid-2010.

Route 28, Allegheny Valley -- Northbound single-lane closures, postponed last week because of weather, go into effect tomorrow from south of Harmar Interchange to Creighton Interchange.

Route 130, Trafford -- Emergency repairs to hillside subsidence that has closed the road at the Trafford-Penn Township line are expected to be finished within the next two weeks.

Route 910, Gibsonia -- Overpass of the Pennsylvania Turnpike, 3 miles west of Butler Valley Interchange, closed until fall for construction of a $7.5 million bridge, requiring a 7.3-mile detour.

LOCAL ROADS

Route 65, Manchester -- Ramp from Route 65 south to California and Beaver avenues will be closed from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesday for bridge inspection.

OTHER ROADS

Stanwix Street, Downtown -- Closed between Fort Duquesne Boulevard and Penn Avenue for excavation associated with extending the light-rail system to the North Shore.

Baptist Road, Bethel Park -- Closed from Millenium Park Drive and Lowe's entrance for $2 million replacement of the bridge over railroad tracks between Horning and Hamilton roads. Work to last through August.

Boulevard of the Allies, Oakland -- Closed outbound east of the Parkway East entrance, and Forbes Avenue is down to two lanes, both for construction of bridges and a "gateway interchange."

Brownsville Road, South Park -- Bridge over Piney Fork closed for $1.3 million replacement. Detour via Route 88.

MAJOR BRIDGES

Birmingham Bridge -- Southbound side has reopened, one lane in each direction, after temporary repairs to a span that dislodged and fell 8 inches. Northbound side will remain closed while rocker bearings are replaced.

McKees Rocks Bridge -- Single-lane closures 9 a.m.-4 p.m. weekdays through early May for maintenance.
