Pirates limit Yankees tickets
Single-game sales get under way today
Saturday, March 08, 2008

SARASOTA, Fla. -- The Pirates' single-game ticket sales, which begin at 10 a.m. today, will include a rare limitation: No buyer can purchase more than eight tickets for any of the three home games June 24-26 against the New York Yankees.

The Yankees will be visiting Pittsburgh for the first time since 1960, when Bill Mazeroski's home run beat them in Game 7 of the World Series.

The Pirates' purpose to limiting sales for the series is to keep any individuals from buying large blocks of tickets for online resale and allow local fans the best chance to purchase them.

All single-game tickets, including those for the April 7 home opener against the Chicago Cubs, can be bought in person at the PNC Park box office on General Robinson Street, online at www.pirates.com or by phone at 1-800-289-2827.

The Pirates will have what they are calling an "On-Sale" event at PNC Park for those who choose to buy tickets at the ballpark today. That will include tours of the Pirates' clubhouse, dugout and batting cages, a question and answer session with general manager Neal Huntington from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in the press conference room, autographs from Dave Giusti and Grant Jackson, free coffee and cookies.

There will be free parking in Lot 6 across the street from the box office.
