A group of local designers attempt to answer that question in a special exhibit created for this year's Home & Garden Show at the David L. Lawrence Convention Center, Downtown.

The ASID Designer Showcase, created by members of the Pennsylvania West Chapter of the American Society of Interior Designers, features six room vignettes inspired by famous Pittsburghers past and present.

Here, staff writer Gretchen McKay leads us on a tour of some of the rooms, including Warhol's kitchen, environmentalist Rachel Carson's bedroom and actor David Conrad's city loft living room.

The show runs through March 16.
