Inez Pauwels Traynor is a gardener. But when she turned 100 on Sunday, she was surrounded not by her roses and African violets but by the bounty of her family.
Ms. Traynor has two children -- Janet Grosse of Forward and John Pauwels of Peoria, Ariz. -- three grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren. Many of them joined her for a family dinner Sunday at New Eagle Social Hall.
She was born March 2, 1908, in Belle Vernon to Mary Carper and Harry Tuttle. She attended Douglas Business School and worked at Barbara Joyce bakery and diner and Rach's Department Store, both in Belle Vernon.
For the past 40 years, she has lived with her daughter in Belle Vernon. In addition to gardening and tending her indoor plants, Ms. Traynor enjoys puzzles and playing cards.
