A few of you have e-mailed us about our comment in yesterday's game blog where we labeled Josef Melichar and Alain Nasreddine trash. Not surprisingly, none of those e-mails we've received were concerning the Josef Melichar portion of that statement.
When we called Nasreddine trash, we weren't trying to be saveage with our assesment of his abilities. He seems like a nice enough guy and he's gone about his business of being a professional. At the AHL level, he's a pro's pro.
But there's a reason he's in the AHL and has stayed there for the most part in his career while guys like Alex Goligoski and Kris Letang have gotten shots at the NHL before they can legally rent cars.
Again, we're not player hating on Nasreddine. We admire his desire to keep at it when far weaker people would've called it a career. We're just pointing out guys like Goligoski and Letang have more natural ability and that's why they're in the NHL and Nasreddine isn't.
Josef Melichar is trash though.
