LEAP YEAR NEWS

• After transitions at Kaya and Soba, Big Burrito has decided to make Mad Mex a smoke-free environment as of Saturday. Nonsmokers and smokers alike can now meet and mingle over margaritas and burritos.

If you're mourning the loss of all that smoke, Leap Day gives you one last chance to enjoy the aroma. HopDevil Ale from the Victory Brewing Company and fried frogs legs will make the day (and night) that much sweeter. Frogs legs are limited, so start your Friday night early.

RESTAURANTS GIVE BACK

• On March 9 from 4:30 to 9 p.m. Ruth's Chris Steak House will donate 100 percent of food sales to the University of Pittsburgh Cancer Institute for cancer research. To make a reservation, call 412-391-4800.

• Casbah's February benefit dinner has been rescheduled for March 6 and will benefit the Neighborhood Academy. The mission of the academy is to break the cycle of generational poverty through education. The minimum donation is $100 per person (not including gratuity), and 100 percent of the proceeds are donated to the charity. The next dinner will be held March 27, the fourth Thursday of the month, as usual, and will benefit Grow Pittsburgh's Edible Schoolyard Program. Call 412-661-5656 for reservations. To view the menu or learn more about the benefit dinner series, visit bigburrito.com/casbah.
