Marcus Stout scored a season-high 31 points, including Fordham's final eight, as the Rams held off Temple, 78-76, yesterday at Liacouras Center in Philadelphia. Bryant Dunston had 12 points and 12 rebounds and Brenton Butler also scored 12 points for Fordham (11-13, 5-7), which had lost five of its previous seven games.
Dionte Christmas scored 20 points and Mark Tyndale had 18 points and 12 rebounds for the Owls (14-12, 7-5).
The Rams never trailed in the game and led, 60-45, with 12:05 left to play. Temple then went on a 17-6 run to close to 66-62, and then finally tied the score, 68-68, with 4:18 remaining.
Stout's scoring then led to a 78-74 Rams lead with 12.8 seconds remaining. Tyndale made a layup and stole the inbounds pass, but after a timeout his difficult 22-foot attempt hit the front rim at the buzzer.
George Washington 59, Richmond 53: Rob Diggs had 18 of his 20 points in the first half as host George Washington (8-14, 4-8) upset Richmond (14-11, 7-5), which began the day tied for second in the conference.
Charlotte 81, Saint Louis 64: Lamont Mack scored 15 points and hit two 3-pointers in the decisive second-half run to help Charlotte (15-11, 6-6) beat Saint Louis (15-12, 6-7) to snap a three-game losing streak.
