Penn State Beaver women invited to USCAA tournament

The Penn State Beaver women's basketball team, in its first season of competition, has been invited to participate in the United States Collegiate Athletic Association tournament Monday through Feb. 29 at Broken Arrow, Okla.

Penn State Beaver, 17-6 and ranked No. 2 in USCAA, is one of 12 teams in the field. Games will be played at Rehema Bible College.

The Lions have also qualified for the Penn State University Athletic Conference tournament and are 12-3 in the PSUAC after defeating Penn State DuBois, 64-43.

In that game, Tasia McCargo, a freshman from Beaver Falls, had 20 points and pulled down eight rebounds. Teammate Alonna Verrico, a Rochester High graduate, chipped in with 10 points.

Penn State Beaver will close out the regular season at 5 p.m. Saturday with a home game against Penn State Greater Allegheny. The contest will decide first place in the PSUAC West Division. The PSUAC tournament is the first week in March.

Geneva men

The Geneva College men's basketball team entered the final week of the season with a 12-11 record. Three Golden Tornadoes are ranked among the leaders in the Presidents' Athletic Conference.

Greg McDivitt, a 6-foot-7 senior forward from Windham, Ohio, ranks seventh in the PAC in scoring at 15.7 points per game. He is also fourth in rebounding with 8 per game and seventh in field goal percentage at .553.

Bryan Hill, a 5-9 sophomore guard from Brecksville Heights, is 13th in scoring (14.0). He is also first in 3-point shots made (3.8 per game) and eighth in 3-point shooting percentage (.425).

Justin Nardi, a 6-0 junior guard from Blackhawk, ranks third in assists (4.74 per game) and fourth in free throw percentage (.822).

Geneva women

The Geneva College women's team enters its final week with an impressive 19-4 record. Four players are ranked among the leaders in the Presidents' Athletic Conference.

Allyson Clarke, a 6-0 senior from South Side Beaver, ranks third in scoring (18.1), first in rebounds (10.7), sixth in field goal percentage (.513) and eighth in free-throw percentage (.743).

Renee Rawding, a 5-9 junior forward from Blackhawk, ranks fourth in scoring (17.3), first in free throw percentage (.910), second in 3-point shots made, and third in 3-point percentage (.374).

Michawn Rich, a 5-9 junior forward from Reno, Nev., ranks fifth in rebounding (8.5) and six in assists (3.19).

Bridget Beachy, a 5-4 senior guard from Boardman, Ohio, ranks seventh in assists (3.09).
