Kachina, a female condor that was hatched last June at the Aviary, was prepped Wednesday with a vaccination shot from Dr. Pilar Fish, director of veterinary medicine.
The shot is part of a process aimed at giving the bird its freedom -- not here, but in the South American country of Colombia.
By the way, if you're curious, the condor's name is a Hopi word meaning "spirit." Karli Sutton, age 8, from Grove City, came up with "Kachina" in a naming contest last year.
