Chain-reaction skidding crash kills Beaver County man
Monday, February 18, 2008

A Beaver County man was killed yesterday when his vehicle, which had skidded off the roadway, was toppled onto him after another vehicle slid into it at the same location.

Brian Good, 46, of Fombell, was pronounced dead at the scene at 7:45 a.m.

Mr. Good and a woman passenger had been traveling east on Route 288 in Franklin, Beaver County, when a minivan traveling ahead of him lost control on the icy, downhill roadway, Deputy Coroner William Pasquale said.

Mr. Good lost control of his Ford Explorer at the same spot on the ice and spun into the same ravine near the van.

As he and his passenger got out to survey the damage, the third vehicle, also a Ford Explorer, skidded into the ravine, striking Mr. Good's passenger.

The second Explorer then struck Mr. Good's vehicle, knocking it over and pinning him to the ground, Mr. Pasquale said.

The woman, whose name was not released, was taken to Allegheny General Hospital. Her condition was not available.
