A Westmoreland County man was sentenced yesterday in federal court to six months of home detention for selling a tiger skin to an undercover agent.
Barry L. McMaster, 61, owner of Exotic & Unique Gifts in Greensburg, will also have to serve three years of probation.
Mr. McMaster received the skin from his son's store in Florida and sold it for $8,500 to an undercover agent from the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service.
The tiger is protected as an endangered species under federal law.
Federal agents arrested Mr. McMaster and his son, Kevin McMaster, 37, in 2004 after a year-long investigation.
The son was prosecuted in Florida and sentenced to 25 months in federal prison. He's due to be released in April.
