Wannstedt hires a receivers coach
Friday, February 08, 2008

Pitt coach Dave Wannstedt named former Maryland assistant Bryan Bossard as the Panthers receivers coach today.

Bossard coached the Terps receivers for the past three seasons and prior to that he coached receivers at Delaware from 2002-04. He has previously worked under Wannstedt -- as a summer intern with the Chicago Bears in 1996 and 1997 -- and he was a standout defensive back at Delaware from 1985-88.

"Our receivers are going to benefit tremendously from Bryan's experience and teaching abilities," Wannstedt said in a statement issued by the athletic department announcing the hiring of Bossard. "He is an intelligent and enthusiastic coach of receiver play and I feel very fortunate to bring him to the University of Pittsburgh."

Bossard said, "I am very excited to join the Pitt football family. I am really looking forward to working on Coach Wannstedt's staff and getting to know our wide receiver group in the coming days. Pitt football is on the rise and we are going to work to achieve great things in 2008."

In addition to hiring Bossard, Wannstedt announced that he has filled two graduate assisatant positions as well and they are: Scott Turner, son of San Diego Chargers coach Norv Turner, who will work with the offense and Greg Williams, who will work with the defense.

The additions means Wannstedt has only one remaining position on his staff to fill -- special teams coordinator -- a position that became open this week when Charlie Partridge became the defensive line coach at Wisconsin.
