If you don't get a chance to celebrate today, this weekend head to Robinson to the Golden Palace for dim sum -- the Cantonese tradition of eating a wide variety of small dishes while drinking tea, usually in the late morning or early afternoon. Though a few restaurants in Pittsburgh already offer dim sum on their menus, the recently opened Golden Palace is the only restaurant serving dim sum from carts, in the traditional manner. Cart-service is available Saturday and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., and dim sum items can be ordered off the regular menu anytime. For more information, call 412-489-5398.
If you're looking for a New Year's celebration on the South Side, head over to UUBU6, which is offering a special Chinese New Year Menu today, Friday and Saturday. Call 412-381-7695 for more information.
Manny's Restaurant is a creation of Robin and Eric Fernandez that opened just three months ago, but the lack of crowds has led them to reconsider its place in the Cultural District food scene. Saturday, Manny's Restaurant will shut its doors, but on Feb. 15 it will reopen as Manny's Kitchen and Club. The lounge, on Penn Avenue, Downtown, will focus on cocktails and good food to go with them.
A Taste of Chocolate, the new chocolate shop in the Eastside development, is officially open for business. Fans of chocolatier Tom Allen's first store in Collier will certainly want to visit his new venue. The Eastside store is at the intersection of Centre and South Highland avenues. For more information call 412-661-0660.
