Video: Bob Hoover talks with Rita Mae Brown

Touring nationally for her latest Sneaky Pie Brown title in her best-selling crime series, author Rita Mae Brown dropped in at the Post-Gazette Tuesday to talk about her books and efforts to rescue unwanted animals. Her newest addition is "Purrfect Murder."

Ms. Brown is the author of more than 35 books, both fiction and nonfiction, as well as numerous television scripts that have brought her four Emmy nominations. She's active in supporting no-kill animal shelters. Her appearance here, presented by Oakmont's Mystery Lovers Bookshop, benefited Animal Friends.

Rita Mae lives on a farm in rural Virginia with 45 horses and more than 100 dogs and cats. She's also an avid horsewoman and fox hunter, but stresses that no animals are harmed in the sport. Watch Rita Mae Brown with book editor Bob Hoover and learn about her surprising connection to Pittsburgh.
