Chartiers Valley graduate Stacie Aleski and Bishop Canevin grad Leah Feola are the top two scorers on the Carnegie Mellon University women's basketball team.
Aleski, a 5-foot-5 junior point guard who broke into the starting lineup as a freshman, leads the team in scoring (12.9 points per game), steals (2.1 per game), field-goal percentage (46.2) and 3-point field-goal percentage (.473).
Feola, a 5-9 senior guard, is a four-year letterwinner and has started most of her career. She is averaging 9.9 points per game and leads the team with 5.9 rebounds per game.
Montour grad helps Rock
Montour graduate Haley Gaidosh, a starter on the Slippery Rock University women's team, is averaging 8.5 points and 4.1 rebounds per game.
Gaidosh, a 6-0 redshirt freshman, is also shooting 50.0 percent from the field.
She's Grove City's leader
Center graduate Christine Slater leads the Grove City College women's basketball team with a 10.5 points per game average.
A 5-9 freshman forward, Slater has played in all 16 games, but has started only one. She leads the team in field-goal percentage (47.7) and 3-point percentage (33.3). She is also averaging 6.9 rebounds and 1.2 steals per game.
Geneva gets local boost
Two graduates of PG West area high schools are contributing to the success of the Geneva College men's basketball team.
West Allegeny graduate Zac Northen and Blackhawk graduate Justin Nardi are starters for the Golden Tornadoes.
Northen, a 6-5 senior swing man, is averaging 9.7 points and 4.8 rebounds per game. He is also shooting 50.4 percent from the field, and 72.9 percent from the foul line.
Nardi, a 6-0 junior guard, is averaging 7.9 points and 4.5 assists per game. He is shooting 44 percent from the field and 87.2 percent from the foul line.
He leads the team with 81 assists.
The Golden Tornadoes are 10-8 overall.
