WVU hires receivers coach
Tuesday, January 29, 2008

New West Virginia football coach Bill Stewart did hire an assistant coach from Appalachian State after all, though not one that fans breathlessly anticipated for most of a month.

Stewart today named Lonnie Galloway as his receivers coach. Galloway spent the past three national-championship seasons coaching receivers at Division I-AA Appalachian State, whose quarterbacks and offensive line coach were previously mentioned prominently as West Virginia candidates. Galloway, a former Western Carolina player, also coached East Carolina receivers for two years and Elon's quarterbacks and receivers from 1996-2002.

His hiring apparently fills out the position staff under Stewart, who still seeks to name a strength and conditioning coach.
