Penn State (10-9, 2-5) struggled on offense early and dug a hole it couldn't get out of in losing at Iowa, 64-49, last night in Big Ten action.

The Nittany Lions lost for the fifth consecutive game. Junior Stanley Pringle made his first career start and led Penn State with a career-high tying 17 points. Jamelle Cornley added 15 points and played with an injured left knee in the second half. Penn State shot 39.2 percent (20 of 51) from the floor.

It took the Nittany Lions 4¹/₂ minutes to get on the board with a Cornley jumper and they trailed Iowa (10-11, 3-5), 21-5, at 7:44 of the first half.
