A construction worker died yesterday morning after falling from scaffolding in Monroeville.
William Bracken, 42, of Derry, was building a scaffold directly next to an existing, tented scaffold when the wind picked up about 9:30 a.m. The wind blew the existing scaffold into the partially built one and both fell down, with Mr. Bracken, who was descending from the partial scaffold, falling about 19 feet, according to the project's general contractor, Burchick Construction Co.
Mr. Bracken, who had been employed by Kusler Masonry of Carnegie for six years, was working on renovating and adding to an office building on Jamison Lane.
He was pronounced dead at Forbes Regional Hospital at 10:26 a.m., according to the Allegheny County medical examiner's office. An autopsy will be performed tomorrow.
