Severity of Crosby's injury still unclear
Saturday, January 19, 2008

MONTREAL -- Penguins center Sidney Crosby had his injured right ankle examined by the team's training staff in Pittsburgh today, but will not undergo a full evaluation until early next week, after the swelling subsides.

Team officials still do not have a timetable for how long he is expected to be out of the lineup, although his next examination could lead to a prognosis.

Crosby, the leading vote-getter for the All-Star game next weekend, got a high ankle sprain during the first period of the Penguins' 3-0 loss to Tampa Bay at Mellon Arena last night after his right foot bent awkwardly as he slid into the boards behind the Lightning net.

He did not accompany the Penguins to Montreal for their game against the Canadiens tonight at 7:08.
