Lindsey Loutsenhizer

Norwin

Last week: One of the premier post players in the WPIAL, the 6-footer helped the Class AAAA No. 2-ranked Knights to four wins the past 10 days, scoring 21, 15, 19 and 12 points in succession.

Check this out: Norwin is the lone undefeated Class AAAA team. The Knights are 16-0 heading into tonight's Section 1 matchup against visiting Hempfield. Loutsenhizer signed with Division I Manhattan College.

OK, for the record, how do you pronounce your last name? LOTS-IN-HI-ZER.

It is often mispronounced, I would guess? It is always something different, but that is OK. I'd say people write it down wrong more than they say it wrong, though.

Can this Norwin team win a WPIAL title and, if so, why? Definitely. We have a lot of talent and, with me tearing my meniscus and missing last year, a lot of girls got experience and now are ready to play big roles in big situations.

Because you got a full scholarship, are your parents going to use what was your college money to buy you anything? Ever since I was little, my mom said she'd buy me a car, so I am holding her to that. But, I am going to college in New York so I wouldn't need one right away, but I am definitely holding her to it later on.

Have you seen a lot of junk defenses this year? Yes, but it makes me a better player because I know that there are four girls on my team that I can get the ball to and they can score. Teams that focus on me have forced me to become a better passer and helped my overall game.

Ryan Kumpfmiller

West Allegheny

Check this out: One of the top players in district hockey, Kumpfmiller leads PIHL Class AA in scoring with 44 points -- 24 goals and 20 assists. He was a member of the Post-Gazette Stellar 6 as a junior after tallying 63 points. He also plays for the Junior B Penguins and is No. 5 in West Allegheny's senior class with a 4.5 grade-point average. He plans to attend Robert Morris.

What makes you feel better, a goal or an assist? That's hard to say because I love setting up a player and watching him score a goal. But at the same time, there is no feeling like scoring a goal.

Do you pattern your game after anyone? Always Mario Lemieux.

What did you pay for your skates? I think $480.

Who has the best uniforms in the NHL? I like the Atlanta Thrashers, even though they just beat the Penguins.

People might be surprised to know that you ... I used to have an ice rink in my back yard. We had a bunch of pavement and we just used to freeze it over.

Where do you see yourself in 10 years? With a family, kids and hopefully a well-paying job in my field. I'm going to major in computer information systems.
