Penn Hills native named WVU Offensive Line coach
Wednesday, January 16, 2008

Penn Hills native and former Mountaineers center Dave Johnson has been named the new offensive line coach at West Virginia, making him the fourth alumnus to join Bill Stewart's staff the past week -- following Steve Dunlap, Doc Holliday and David Lockwood.

Johnson spent the past seven years coaching tight ends at Georgia, where three of his Bulldogs went on to productive NFL careers (New England's Ben Watson, St. Louis' Randy McMichael and Arizona's Leonard Pope). Before that, he was the recruiting coordinator, tight ends and offensive tackles coach at Marshall. He has been on the winning side in bowl games eight of the past 11 seasons.

Johnson previously coached at IUP and Shippensburg.

"I am excited to come back 'home'... and work on an oustanding staff that Bill Stewart is putting together," Johnson said in a statement.
