Titans' Fisher fires offensive coordinator

No former Steelers are among the 15 finalists for the Pro Football Hall of Fame that were named yesterday.

However, former Pitt player and Steelers assistant coach Russ Grimm again made the list. Grimm, who played guard in the 1990s for the three-time Super Bowl champion Washington Redskins, left the Steelers to become assistant head coach of the Arizona Cardinals this year.

Titans

Tennessee fired offensive coordinator Norm Chow yesterday after a season of struggling to score points and reaching the playoffs for the first time since 2003.

Titans coach Jeff Fisher said the day after his Titans (10-6) lost an AFC wild-card game to San Diego, 17-6, that improving the offense was his top priority this offseason. They ranked 21st overall in total offense.

After a week of evaluating the team, Fisher told Chow he would not be retained as offensive coordinator.

• A woman is seeking an arrest warrant against suspended Tennessee cornerback Adam "Pac-Man" Jones, claiming he punched her at an Atlanta strip club. Fulton County Magistrate Court officials told The Associated Press that Wanda S. Jackson asked for the warrant after a Jan. 3 altercation at the Body Tap Strip Club.

Dolphins

Dallas Cowboys assistant head coach Tony Sparano arrived in Fort Lauderdale, Fla. last night for a second interview for Miami's head coaching job.

Ravens

Dallas Cowboys offensive coordinator Jason Garrett, 41, spent more than six hours interviewing for the head coaching job in Baltimore but left the team's training facility without filling the vacancy.

Bengals

Atlanta Falcons defensive coordinator Mike Zimmer was hired for the same role with Cincinnati, which has been dragged down by its defense for years. Zimmer, 51, becomes the third defensive coordinator under head coach Marvin Lewis.

Jaguars

Jacksonville defensive end Brent Hawkins was arrested early Monday and charged with drunken driving after he was stopped for speeding on his way home from a night out.
