High School Recruiting: Panthers land Altoona standout
Tuesday, January 15, 2008

Pitt's good fortunes in Western Pennsylvania football recruiting continued last night when Altoona High School's A.J. Alexander made a verbal commitment to the Panthers.

Alexander, 6 feet and 180 pounds, played running back, receiver and quarterback at Altoona. He was heavily recruited and committed to Florida State in May, but he changed his mind a few weeks later. Alexander visited Pitt this past weekend, and already had been to North Carolina and Tennessee. Penn State and Clemson were among the other schools that had offered scholarships.

Pitt also received a commitment from Joe Trebitz, a 6-2, 205-pound linebacker from Boca Raton, Fla.
