This surveillance video from an Ingram 7-Eleven shows a man police have identified as Lawrence Davis, 20, of Norristown, Montgomery County, approaching the clerk, Kaelin Weber, 24, with a knife the morning of Dec. 25. Allegheny County Judge Donna Jo McDaniel released the footage today despite a motion by the public defender and the district attorney today to block media access to it.

On the video, the hooded man enters the store, jumps the counter and gets into a physical struggle with Mr. Weber. The clerk suffered knife wounds to the hand and arm. Mr. Weber fires a shot at the intruder with a pistol. The intruder jumps back over the counter. Mr. Weber appears to take another shot after the man hops back over the counter and exits, blowing out the pane of the glass door on the left.
Police said the clerk fired his gun multiple times. Mr. Davis suffered multiple wounds to the torso. His injuries were not life-threatening. He faces a trial on charges of aggravated assault and robbery.
District Attorney Stephen A. Zappala Jr. has said his office does not plan to prosecute Mr. Weber in connection with the shooting. Prosecutors determined the clerk was justified in shooting the suspect. However, Mr. Weber's license to carry the weapon was revoked in the wake of a Jan. 4 incident in which he brandished the gun during an argument with a customer over change. Ingram police charged Mr. Weber Friday with simple assault by menace and reckless endangerment.
