PNC Financial Services Group and outgoing Heinz Endowments President Maxwell King have been awarded the inaugural Martin Luther King Jr. Leadership & Diversity Awards from the Coro Center for Civic Leadership, in collaboration with the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.

PNC received the Diversity award for a range of initiatives, from its Grow Up Great program supporting youth education to its green building initiatives and formation of a diversity council involving top executives, said Sala Udin, Coro's president and chief executive officer.

Mr. King was honored with the Leadership award for helping change the face of public education, leadership in protecting the riverfronts, advocacy for a sustainable environment, influence on the rebuilding of Downtown and a commitment to hire women and minorities for management positions, Mr. Udin said.

PNC and Mr. King will be honored an awards ceremony on Jan. 22 at the Heinz Field East Club lounge, with former Hall of Fame Steeler Franco Harris serving as honorary chair and former Mayor Tom Murphy delivering the keynote address.
