Lance Bryson

Albert Gallatin

Last week: Won five matches at the Trinity Duals to lift his season record to 21-0. Bryson also broke the school career record for wins and now has a 114-18 record.

Check this out: Bryson, a senior, wrestles at 171 pounds. He was third at the PIAA Class AAA championships last year. Bryson, who has a 4.06 grade-point average, has made a verbal commitment to West Virginia.

What are the chances of you going undefeated this year? That, I'm not sure. I hope I can keep healthy. That would help.

Would anything less than a state championship be disappointing this year? Yes. I know I have it in me.

Is there a food you can't eat during the season because of gaining weight? As long as I watch how much I eat, I can eat anything. But I try to stay away from junk food.

Do you know who the man Albert Gallatin was? I know there is a big picture of him in our library, but my memory is vague on who he was. I haven't had to know that since elementary school.

People might be surprised to know that you ... I study a lot. People do not look at athletes, especially wrestlers, as intelligent people.

Sarah Dunleavy

Bethel Park

Last week: A senior swimmer, Dunleavy recently turned in two of her best performances on the year, clocking a 1:06.95 in the 100 breaststroke and a 2:09.15 in the 200 individual medley.

Check this out: Dunleavy's marks in the 100 breaststroke and 200 IM have her ranked first in the WPIAL in both events. She is more than four seconds faster than her nearest WPIAL competitor in the IM and almost three seconds faster than the next best time in the breaststroke. She won the WPIAL in both last season and finished second in the breaststroke and fourth in the IM last year at the PIAA championships.

College chatter: She recently chose Purdue over Pitt and Maryland. "I just felt most comfortable," Dunleavy said. "Purdue didn't have any negatives."

Is it tough swimming WPIAL meets when you are so much faster than everyone else? Yes and no. Sometimes, the best competition comes from your teammates, especially with us, because I think we have a really good team. But, there are always people out there trying to beat you, so there is some motivation from beating the opponents, too.

Did you set specific times you'd like to hit this year? Actually, I did not do that and it is on purpose. I did it last year and did not swim the way I wanted so this year I said, 'Just go out and work hard and swim your fastest.' That has worked better.
