Hofbrauhaus delayed

The opening of the Hofbrauhaus in the SouthSide Works has been pushed back from this summer to December.

The beer hall-restaurant will be the third one in North America based on the original in Munich, Germany. The other two are in Newport, Ky. (across from Cincinnati) and Las Vegas. Pittsburgh's is to be operated by a group led by Nick Ellison, who operates the Kentucky location. The Soffer Organization is the local developer.

The 17,000-square-foot space will sit along the Monongahela River across from the Cheesecake Factory. It will feature Bavarian-style beers -- brewed on site -- and cuisine as well as some American food, and will seat more than 1,000 people.
