Each year, while the Pittsburgh Zoo's polar bears are fast asleep, Pittsburgh's other polar bears gather on the banks of the Monongahela River, waiting for the right moment.

These normally sane people delight in taking a morning plunge into the icy waters of the Mon.

This year's Polar Bear Club included some who have been taking part for more than 40 years, as well as several first timers.
