Geary Claxton scored a season-high 29 points and grabbed 10 rebounds as Penn State ended its non-conference schedule by defeating Lehigh, 81-68, yesterday at Bryce Jordan Center in University Park, Pa.

Claxton's 21 first-half points helped the Nittany Lions (8-4) record their first five-game winning streak since 2002-03.

Claxton's strong first half helped Penn State keep pace with hot-shooting Lehigh (6-6). The Mountain Hawks converted 6 of 10 from beyond the 3-point arc in the half and entered halftime tied, 40-40.

Bryan White's jumper gave Lehigh a 47-44 lead, but Penn State went on a 9-0 run.

Nittany Lion Jamelle Cornley scored nine of his 12 points in the first 8:31 of the second half. Danny Morrissey added 13 points for Penn State.

• Ryan Einwag had 16 points and Jack Anderson added 15 as Carnegie Mellon (6-2) surprised host Capital (8-2), 71-65. Capital is ranked No. 12 in Division III. ... Craig Hannon converted 5 of 10 3-pointers but Westminster (2-10) lost to Wisconsin-River Falls (7-5), 77-73, in the Trip Sports Classic in Phoenix.

• DaJuan Summers had 15 points and nine rebounds as No. 7 Georgetown (10-1) closed out its non-conference schedule with an 82-55 victory against visiting Fordham (6-6). ... Josh Carter and DeAndre Jordan scored 16 points apiece, and No. 12 Texas A&M (13-1) rolled to its sixth consecutive win, 68-41, against visiting Rice. ... A.J. Ogilvy and Shan Foster scored 20 points each, and No. 15 Vanderbilt (13-0) beat visiting Iona, 97-73, to get off to its best start in school history.

• Mel Thomas scored 19 points as host Connecticut (11-0) opened its second week as the No. 1 team in by routing Army (6-6), 82-33.

• Brooque Williams had a game-high 23 points as California (9-3) upended host Seton Hill (5-4), 74-68.
