BILLY BAIR

Mars Area

RB/DB, 5-11,190, Sr.

Had one of the greatest individual seasons in WPIAL history. In the regular season, he rushed for 2,112 yards on 219 attempts, at least the best yardage total in the past three decades. Scored 204 regular-season points, which ties for the most in the past three decades. Finished his career with 516 attempts for 4,702 yards, 14th-best in WPIAL history.

ROB BRIGGS

Knoch

TE, 6-5, 210, Sr.

Briggs is a solid mix of size and speed and was a brute for a Knights team that made a surprising run to a 9-3 record and pushed into the WPIAL Class AAA semifinals. He caught 19 passes and scored three touchdowns. Also a talented basketball player, Briggs is getting some Division II and Division III basketball interest.

C.J. BROWN

Seneca Valley

QB, 6-3, 190, Jr.

Brown is an athlete whose body is slapped together and is not only imposing to look at, but productive in leading the Raiders' offense. He threw for 1,567 yards and 11 touchdowns as he helped Seneca Valley to a 6-4 mark and a spot in the Class AAAA playoffs. He will be one the most heralded quarterbacks in the WPIAL next season.

KARL DeCIANTIS

North Allegheny

RB, 5-11, 185, Sr.

A bull of a runner who also has breakaway speed, DeCiantis roared to exactly 1,300 yards this season and scored 19 touchdowns in helping the Tigers to the WPIAL Class AAAA semifinals. Also a fine wrestler, he is considering which sport to compete in during college and is hearing from the likes of Duquesne and various Patriot League schools.

BILL DEVLIN

Highlands

RB/LB, 5-10, 185, Jr.

A hard-hitting linebacker who always seems to be in the right spot, Devlin made All-Class AAA Greater Allegheny Conference on defense. He was also a player who took turns in coach Sam Albert's revolving running back situation as he ran for 429 yards. Devlin will be one of the top linebackers in the WPIAL next season.

ANTHONY DiPASQUALE

Pine-Richland

OL/DL, 6-2, 265, Sr.

There was not a more dominating two-way lineman in the WPIAL Class AAA Greater Allegheny Conference than DiPasquale, who made the all-conference team on both lines. He led the Rams to a 10-2 mark and the WPIAL semifinals and is drawing interest from, among others, Duquesne, Dayton and Mercyhurst.

MIKE FARRELL

Shady Side Academy

OL/DL, 6-6, 290, Sr.

A gargantuan force on the line for Shady Side Academy -- both offensively and defensively -- Farrell helped the Indians to a 9-2 mark and the WPIAL Class AA quarterfinals. He has been a huge reason for the Indians' football resurgence and is drawing interest from Division I schools, including Pitt, Temple and Miami (Ohio).

AUSTIN FEDELL

North Allegheny

OL/DL, 6-2, 265, Sr.

One of the most dominating linemen in Class AAAA. A three-year starter, Fedell was at his best on offense, opening holes for North Allegheny's strong running game. Also had three sacks on defense. Son of former Pitt linebacker Steve Fedell. Some Division I-AA schools are interested in Austin, who is an honor roll student.

GEOFF GRECO

North Allegheny

WR/QB, 6-4, 210, Sr.

One of the most versatile players in the WPIAL, Greco played receiver and quarterback, but also was excellent at returning kicks. Rushed for 770 yards on 107 attempts, led team in receptions with 17 for 45 yards. Averaged 39.5 yards on kickoff returns. Schools such as Bowling Green, Ohio, William & Mary and Buffalo are interested.

JOHN HENDERSON

Perry Traditional Academy

WR, 5-10, 195, Sr.

A receiver who can flat-out fly and also isn't afraid to crack back and throw a devastating block, Henderson helped coach Bill Gallagher's Commodores to a 4-7 mark. He reeled in eight touchdown passes and also caught a team-high 31 balls for 502 yards as the Commodores reached the PIAA playoffs. Henderson is receiving some college interest.

IAN HENNESSY

Pine-Richland

RB/S, 6-0, 180, Jr.

The top rusher for a Pine-Richland team that reached the WPIAL Class AAA semifinals and posted 10 wins. Hennessy roared onto the scene this season as he rushed for 1,572 yards and a team-high 20 touchdowns on 190 carries. Targeted as one of the top backs in the WPIAL next season.

MIKE HIRT

North Hills

LB, 6-1, 215, Jr.

His name is not a misnomer, as this North Hills player will definitely put a 'Hirt' on opposing ball carriers. A sure-handed and booming tackler who led the Indians in stops, Hirt will be a Division I linebacker prospect next season. He will enter his senior year as, undoubtedly, one of the top linebackers in the WPIAL.

TIM McNERNEY

Knoch

RB/DB, 5-8, 180, Jr.

One of the WPIAL's feel-good stories this season as a player who rose from a backup to one of the top rushers in the WPIAL after an injury to teammate Alex Whisler. McNerney was an All-Greater Allegheny Conference back as he ripped off 1,750 yards and scored 24 touchdowns for a Knights team that realized a resurgence with a 9-3 record.

VINNY NITTOLI

Pine-Richland

QB/LB, 6-0, 180, Jr.

A stocky, strong quarterback who grabbed control of the huddle this season and propelled the Rams to a stellar year. Nittoli threw for 1,476 yards, completing 78 of 148 passes and 17 touchdowns. He scored 12 touchdowns and was also a driving force for a Pine-Richland defense that posted three shutouts.

DAN O'MARA

Hampton

WR/DB, 6-1, 195, Sr.

It was a tough year for the Talbots, who finished an uncharacteristic 2-7. But O'Mara was definitely a bright spot. He pulled in a team-high 28 passes for 617 yards and scored eight touchdowns. O'Mara was first team all-conference on both sides of the ball as he was also a stifling, ball-hawking force at defensive back.

DAN ROONEY

Shady Side Academy

QB/DB, 6-3, 200, Sr.

A strapping quarterback with a sharp arm and a strong will, Rooney was a pivotal part of Shady Side's 9-2 run and jaunt into the WPIAL Class AA quarterfinals. He threw for more than 700 yards and six touchdowns and scored five times. Some Division I schools have shown interest in Rooney, who is also an excellent student.

JEFF SINCLAIR

Highlands

QB/DB, 6-2, 175, Jr.

Sinclair turned in a stellar year as he pushed the Golden Rams to an 8-3 record and into the WPIAL Class AAA quarterfinals. Sinclair, who will be one of the best quarterbacks in the WPIAL next season, threw for 1,313 yards and 10 touchdowns this season to go along with scoring 10 touchdowns himself.

MATT PLAUTZ

Seneca Valley

WR/LB, 6-4, 210, Jr.

The top target of Seneca Valley quarterback C.J. Brown, Plautz proved time and again to have some of the surest hands in the WPIAL. He pulled in 51 passes for 659 yards and also scored six touchdowns for a Seneca Valley team that fought through the adversity of a teachers strike to make the WPIAL postseason.

COREY WATTS

North Allegheny

RB/LB, 6-0, 220, Sr.

A three-year starter for the Tigers, Watts was a rock in the middle of the defense for coach Art Walker this year and helped the squad to an 11-1 mark. A great student with a 3.4 grade point average, some Mid-American Conference schools along with Patriot League schools have been very interested in Watts.

MIKE WINSKO

Pine-Richland

C/DL, 6-3, 250, Sr.

A bulldog of a blocker who can put you in the dirt repeatedly, Winsko was a first-team All-Greater Allegheny Conference selection at center. Winsko is a skilled technician who uses his brute strength advantageously. Schools such as Duquesne, Delaware and Northeastern have shown heavy interest in Winsko.

DAN WIRKOWSKI

Shaler Area

RB/DB, 6-3, 191, Sr.

One of the most athletic players in the PG North area, Wirkowski was the heart of a Titans team that won its first six games. He rushed for 717 yards and caught 14 passes. He also scored a team-high 16 touchdowns while leading Shaler to a spot in the WPIAL Class AAAA postseason. He's also a very good basketball player.

NATHAN ZURISKO

Springdale

Athlete, 6-2, 195, Sr.

A versatile athlete who played a number of roles for coach Chuck Wagner's Dynamos team that reached the WPIAL Class A championship game. Zurisko rushed for 748 yards and was switched from receiver to quarterback during the year. He scored nine touchdowns and showed his versatility by also doing some kicking.
