Five people and two organizations have been named recipients of the 2007 YWCA Racial Justice Award.
The recipients were chosen for the 16th annual awards for their "dedication to elimination of racial inequity" and their impact on Pittsburgh.
Those honored were Ronell Guy, director of education and outreach for the Housing Alliance of Pittsburgh; Valerie Dixon, executive director of the Prevent Another Crime Today initiative; Doris Carson Williams, president and chief executive officer of the African American Chamber of Commerce of Western Pennsylvania; Larry E. Davis, dean of the School of Social Work at the University of Pittsburgh and director of its Center on Race and Social Problems; and Allegheny County Councilwoman Brenda L. Frazier.
Organizations honored were the Pennsylvania Commission for Women and law firm Reed Smith.
The presentations were made Friday at the Omni William Penn Hotel.
