Pryor says he's not set to make college choice
Friday, November 30, 2007

I'm rooting for Oklahoma to win this weekend because that might mean Ohio State and West Virginia would play for the national championship.

Ohio State and West Virginia are two of my top schools, and a game between them would be interesting. If it came off, I really wouldn't root for either team because I usually don't root for a team when I watch college games.

I made an official visit to Ohio State a few weeks ago [for the Wisconsin game]. It was fun. I hung out with the players a lot, most of the time just in the dorms.

• Jeannette High School quarterback/defensive back Terrelle Pryor is ranked the No. 1 player in the country by several scouting services and is being recruited by colleges nationwide. Throughout the season and until he makes a college decision, the Post-Gazette will periodically run a diary from Pryor, as told to sports writer Mike White.

The "walk-through" before the game was crazy. What they do is maybe an hour before the game, the players walk through this long street and then through this old basketball arena where all the fans are and where the band has a pep rally. I was in front of the team. As we were walking through the arena, the students were all chanting my name.

It was a fun visit. Any of the recruits there went out to eat with all the coaches. I had a good steak.

I'm not any closer to making a college decision. I'm still looking at February. I'm not really looking at Texas any more. It's pretty much just five now -- Ohio State, West Virginia, Florida, Penn State and Tennessee.

[Ohio State quarterbacks coach] Joe Daniels came to our school earlier this week. I talked with him for about an hour-and-a-half. Ohio State's recruiters do hit hard. They're very aggressive. You can tell when they want someone. They really get on you.

[Penn State assistant coach] Tom Bradley was here this week, too. He made a home visit with my mom and then with my dad. You have to love coach Bradley. He's fun, he keeps you energized. He's one of the main reasons I'm still looking at Penn State.

I'm not saying I'm not going to Penn State, but their offense is a little concern. They're a little inconsistent offensively.

I wish West Virginia's offense threw more. I like their offense a lot, but I just wish they threw a little more.

We won the WPIAL championship last week, and to be honest, it was pretty easy [61-12 Jeannette victory against Beaver Falls]. I don't want to sound cocky, but everyone was saying how weak our conference was this year. Well, that [championship] game was pretty easy.

We didn't really celebrate that night. Some of us just went over [lineman] Jason Marquis' house. I'm not being cocky, but we have bigger plans than just the WPIAL.

Basketball starts this week, but we don't have a team yet because everyone is on the football team. We don't even bring up basketball because we're scared our coach [Ray Reitz] will say something.

We play Karns City in the state playoffs [tomorrow]. We watched them on film. They seem very small, but they're quick to the ball. I'm pretty confident, but I'm confident going into every game, even if the other team looks good.

Lastly, I'd like to give my blessings to Sean Taylor's family. When I got that news, it really hurt. I loved that dude, just because of how aggressive he was and how he didn't back down from anyone. Whether he was wrong with anything in the past, it doesn't matter. It's just such a tragedy. I don't buy NFL jerseys, but I'll probably go buy his.
