At Grove City's Prime Outlets, thousands of bargain hunters -- including caravans from Canada -- commenced a shopping frenzy that began at the stroke of midnight.
In Downtown Pittsburgh, merchants were hoping free parking Friday and Saturday would lure customers. In the suburbs, shoppers were expected to create traffic congestion on major corridors leading to malls and shopping centers.
Along Route 19 in Cranberry, employees at the Toys R Us store opened doors at 5 a.m. to a waiting throng. Many of those shoppers had stood in line in the dark, braving freezing temperatures and snow.
