Eight professional carvers spent 19 hours over three days creating sculptures based on the theme, The Great Wild North -- A Celebration of the Legendary Animals of North America.
Mr. Pinney's sculpture was titled "Learning to Climb." He received prizes worth about $4,000, including cash and the Echo Carving Cup.

An educational game created by a Hampton woman has won another honor.
Healthy Habits has received a 2008 Teachers' Choice Award from Learning magazine.
Kathleen Zang, a former preschool teacher at St. Catherine of Sweden School in Hampton, created the game and produces it for Blue Bucket Games, a company she founded with her sister, Janet Dietz, of Texas.
Healthy Habits was named one of the 100 Best Children's Products of 2005 and one of the 10 Best Active Toys for 2005 by Dr. Toy, or Stevanne Auerbach, director of the Institute for Childhood Resources.
