State police in Lawrence County this morning charged Duane J. Evans, 24, with driving under the influence twice in a 74-minute period.

Troopers said they saw Mr.Evans committing traffic violations on State Route 422 in Pulaski Township at 2:20 a.m. and pulled him over.

He agreed to submit to a blood test at Jameson Hospital in New Castle, and then he was arrested for driving under the influence.

Troopers said they released Mr. Evans to the custody of a "responsible person" and warned him not to drive.

But at 3:34 a.m., according to state police, "The accused was observed operating a different vehicle and stopped again and arrested for DUI a second time."

Mr. Evans was not given a third chance. He was taken to the Lawrence County Jail, troopers said.
