Submit your Pitt football question

Q: Is it safe to say that TJ Porter has passed Oderick Turner as the Panthers number one receiver? Porter seems to have much better hands and playmaking ability.

Ryan Kennedy, Pittsburgh

ZEISE: I never considered Oderick Turner a No. 1 receiver. The No. 1 receiver - a guy who you can go to when you absolutely need a play, who can catch deep passes and short ones, a guy who never drops passes and is always ready when his number is called -- on this team is Derek Kinder and he's a hurt and that's been a part of the problem up until the past game or two. Pitt just hasn't had that go-to guy. I've always thought Turner is a perfect No. 2 receiver -- a deep threat and a big-play guy --- but the No. 1 receiver has to be more well rounded than he is, which is why the emergence of TJ Porter into that role has been a good development for Pitt. Porter is finally starting to realize his potential and yes, he can become a No. 1 receiver.

Q: Is it a possibility that Conredge Collins would go pro after this year? If so, who would be the likely replacement?

D.C Anderson, Johnstown

ZEISE: Yes, it could happen though I think he'll be back. He is, though, ranked as one of the best fullback prospects in the country and he will certainly play for an NFL team one day. The only problem is not many teams use traditional fullbacks any more so he'd have to weigh what teams have what picks and how many are likely to take a fullback before he makes a decision to leave school early. Like I said, I expect him to be back but any decision like that can change quickly.

Q: Paul - with the continued dumbing down of Pitt's schedule with such schools as Bowling Green, Buffalo, and Central Florida how long do you think it will take Pitt to start scheduling Temple?

Greg Smith, Cumberland, Rhode Island

ZEISE: Ha, ha. OK, I can laugh at that, but I'll caution you this -- the (Al) Golden era of Temple football is gaining momentum. The Owls have won three games in a row (they have the same record as Pitt by the way) and they have an outside chance of winning the Mid-American Conference East Division championship. Saturday they will go to Ohio and try to win their fourth in a row and if they get it, they likely will get to the six wins necessary to become bowl eligible. So you better lay off the Owls -- and judging just by comparative scores of Pitt versus UConn and Temple versus UConn - a game Temple should have won but got absolutely robbed by a horrible call and Connecticut fans know it -- well, I'd say the Panthers probably wouldn't want to have to deal with the boys in the cherry and the white right now because it is a game they might lose......
