The special legislative session on energy, which started last month, has been a bit obscured by bills dealing with open records and smoking bans.
But the House unanimously approved two energy-related bills yesterday. One, Special Session House Bill 8, would allow homeowners to buy energy-saving fluorescent light bulbs for their homes without paying a state sales tax. Another, Special Session House Bill 11, would lift the sales tax from purchases of energy-efficient appliances.
The measures now go to the Senate.
