Pitt coach Dave Wannstedt said today he is going to have to coach from the press box Saturday when the Panthers (2-4, 0-1) play host to Cincinnati (6-1, 0-1).

Wannstedt had surgery Tuesday to repair an Achilles tendon and is confined to a motorized scooter for at least the next week. He said he will trade places with offensive coordinator Matt Cavanaugh on Saturday and Cavanaugh will coach from the field instead of the press box.

Wannstedt said his Achilles has bothered him for the past month and it was torn as he was walking Tuesday. Wannstedt also underwent arthroscopic knee surgery Tuesday.
