Carriage House Center gets $100,000 grant
Wednesday, October 17, 2007

The Carriage House Children's Center has received a $100,000 challenge grant from the Kresge Foundation of Troy, Mich.

The money will support the green renovation of the 110-year-old Wightman School Community Building in Squirrel Hill, where the center is located, and will go toward increasing child-care capacity and saving energy costs.

Carriage House is the first child-care center in the country to pursue LEED certification for an existing building from the U.S. Green Building Council. To collect the grant, it must meet its $2.2 million capital campaign goal by July 2008.
