Allegheny County courts and sheriff's office and the Pittsburgh police have announced a campaign to collect overdue fines from people guilty of summary violations, such as traffic tickets, in the city.
More than 50,000 citations dating to 2004 lack responses from defendants, according to court administrator Raymond L. Billotte.
Warrants will be served on those who continue to ignore the citations, he said.
Today the courts will publish a list of scofflaws on its Web site.
Those named on the list will be given directions on how to pay.
After 30 days, warrants will be issued for those who fail to contact the court. In addition to possible incarceration, defendants may also be required to pay costs associated with serving the warrant, according to Mr. Billotte.
More details in tomorrow's Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.
