WPIAL AAA Roundup: Franklin Regional rallies, defeats Indiana, 31-27

Anthony Vendemia threw a 12-yard touchdown pass to Joe Rockovich with 4:40 left to complete a 14-point fourth-quarter comeback, as Franklin Regional (4-3, 2-2) rallied for a 31-27 win against Indiana in the Greater Allegheny Conference last night. Indiana ended the game at the Franklin Regional 15.

Seve Franceschetti carried 24 times for 131 yards for the Panthers and scored on runs of 40 and 1 yards in the second half. Vendemia completed 7 of 15 for 143 yards.

Indiana's Andy DeGory led all rushers with 172 yards on 25 carries and scored on a 9-yard run. Ben Fiscus scored on runs of 15 and 14 yards for the Little Indians.

Montour 28, Ambridge 11

Edgar Banks was 11 of 14 for 195 yards and connected with Milton Banks on a 34-yard touchdown pass, as No. 2 Montour (7-0, 4-0) gained a Parkway win over Ambridge (3-4, 1-4). Christian Wilson rushed for 97 yards and scored on runs of 1 and 56 yards for the Spartans.

Blackhawk 38, Moon 14

Bryan Stefanik rushed for 238 yards on 24 carries and scored on runs of 67, 43 and 16 yards, as No. 3 Blackhawk (6-1, 4-0) remained unbeaten in the Parkway Conference. Stefanik also caught a 46-yard touchdown pass from Zach Hayward.

New Castle 21, Hopewell 7

Mike Bongivengo ran 5 yards for a touchdown and hit Brian Rice with a 6-yard scoring pass to lead New Castle (5-2, 3-2) to a Parkway win at Hopewell (3-4, 1-3). Joey Perrotta rushed for 109 yards and scored on an 8-yard run for New Castle.

Pine-Richland 47, Greensburg Salem 0

The No. 5 Rams (6-1, 4-1) earned their fourth shutout in six weeks in a Greater Allegheny game against visiting Greensburg Salem (2-5, 0-4).

Vinny Nittoli hit Trey Dillen on touchdown passes of 17 and 20 yards, and scored on a 1-yard sneak. Ian Hennessy rushed for 198 yards, including a 7-yard score.

Highlands 33, Hampton 0

Jeff Sinclair scored three touchdowns and Marty Karlo two, as No. 4 Highlands (6-1, 3-1) beat Hampton (1-6, 0-4) in the Greater Allegheny. Sinclair scored on runs of 2 and 3 yards and on a 39-yard interception return. Karlo carried 13 times for 135 yards, scoring from 1 and 71 yards.

Chartiers Valley 42, Eliz. Forward 13

Justin Burda and Dylan Lindsay each ran for two touchdowns, as Chartiers Valley (6-1, 4-0) remains unbeaten in the Big Seven Conference. Burda scored on runs of 9 and 1 yard, while Lindsay scored on runs of 25 and 4 yards. Burda also completed five of six passes for 108 yards.

Elizabeth Forward (0-7, 0-5) has lost 15 in a row. Vincent Candelore had five catches for 72 yards for the Warriors, including a 20-yard score from Corey Sedcik.

Peters Township 21, Keystone Oaks 13

Tyler Porco scored on runs of 2 and 3 yards and threw a 6-yard touchdown pass to Ben Boehme, as the Indians (3-4, 2-3) recorded a Big Seven win over Keystone Oaks (3-4, 2-2). John Fuhrer rushed for 103 yards and scored on a 31-yard pass from Corey Bellovich.

Mount Pleasant 70, Albert Gallatin 25

Jake Hoffer rushed for 202 yards on only nine carries and scored on runs of 3, 5 and 59 yards, as Mount Pleasant (5-2, 4-0) remained unbeaten in the Keystone Conference with a win over Albert Gallatin (1-6, 1-4). The Vikings scored six touchdowns in the first half and led 42-13 at the intermission.

Ringgold 33, Derry 0

Ringgold (4-3, 4-1) posted its fourth straight Keystone Conference victory, while Derry Area (0-7, 0-4) suffered its 21st consecutive loss. Jordan Fowler completed 9 of 14 passes for 110 yards for the Rams and connected with Jake Spaziani on a 5-yard touchdown pass.

Belle Vernon 42, Uniontown 20

Shane Curran and John Krepps combined for 309 yards and four touchdowns on 28 carries to lead the Leopards (3-4, 3-1) to a Keystone Conference win over Uniontown (2-5, 2-2).

Curran rushed for 152, scoring from 21 and 5 yards. Krepps rushed for 157 and scored on runs of 40 and 2 yards.

Uniontown's Doug Sanner completed 17 of 28 passes for 184 yards and threw a 16-yard touchdown pass to Brian Grady. Sanner also ran 1 yard for a score.

West Allegheny 31, West Mifflin 7

Jordan Kaymark carried 18 times for 120 yards, including a 14-yard touchdown, to lead West Allegheny (3-4). Mike Neckerman was 11 of 19 for 100 yards for West Mifflin (2-5).

Knoch 55, Laurel Highlands 12

Tim McNerney carried 14 times for 161 yards and two touchdowns and David Govan scored from 1, 60 and 39 yards to lead No. 4 Knoch (6-1) past visiting Laurel Highlands (1-6) in a non-conference game.
