There's no mistaking the excitement in the voice of Pine Richland school superintendent Dr. James C. Manley as he passionately discusses the merits of the new Upper Elementary School to a crowd of 40 Pine Richland school officials, teachers and students.

It was a chance for the superintendent to show off the district's crown jewel, an innovative school that can accommodate up 1350 students.
Planning for the building started in 2003 when a task force was formed to examine how the district should best deal with its growing population. The school, which is still under construction will open in August of 2008 and will house fourth through sixth graders.
