There wasn't any rain in the Harmony-Zelienople region last night. But Seneca Valley ended a number of droughts.
The Raiders defeated North Hills, 30-18, in a Northern Five Conference matchup. They ended a 26-game conference losing streak, dating to 2002, and a nine-game slide against the Indians, whom they had last beaten in 1997.
This also was the first conference triumph for Ron Butschle, who is in his fourth season as the Raiders' coach.
C.J. Brown accounted for three touchdowns to lead host Seneca Valley (3-3, 1-1). He completed 15 of 25 passes for 152 yards and two scores, 2 yards to Matt Plautz and 12 yards to Dustin Anewalt. Brown opened the scoring with a 29-yard run, as the Raiders took a 14-0 lead into halftime.
James Daniels carried 31 times for 135 yards and a touchdown, a 52-yarder, for Seneca Valley.
Justin Heinauer fired three touchdown passes for North Hills (2-4, 0-2) -- 15 yards to Ed Reith, 57 to Brennan Prokopec and 38 yards to Max Creighan. Heinauer was 9 of 16 for 160 yards.

North Allegheny 21, Erie McDowell 7
Karl DeCiantis scored two touchdowns and the Tigers' defense was stellar again in a Northern Five victory 100 miles from home.
DeCiantis opened the scoring with a 1-yard run. A.J. Fenton, who gained 217 yards on 19 carries, tied it for McDowell (4-2, 1-1) with an 80-yard bolt. But later in the first quarter, DeCiantis ran 3 yards to give North Allegheny (6-0, 2-0) the lead for good.
There was only one score after that, a 3-yard run by Geoff Greco in the third for the Tigers, who are No. 2 in the WPIAL and No. 5 in the PIAA. They are allowing just 10.8 points per game.
Mt. Lebanon 14, Baldwin 7
Pat Fornadel's 10-yard run in overtime gave the Blue Devils a Great Southern triumph against the visiting Highlanders.
Baldwin (3-3, 1-1) got the ball first in overtime, but quarterback Jeff Joyce fumbled on the second play and Mt. Lebanon's Michael Westhead recovered. Fornadel scored on the next play.
The Blue Devils (3-3, 1-1) did a good job of time management, possessing the ball six minutes more than Baldwin. They also limited the Highlanders to 50 yards in the second half.
Mt. Lebanon's Tim Barr opened the scoring on a 24-yard pass from Andrew Cappucci, but Matt Perella tied it with a 44-yard run in the first quarter.
Gateway 38, Woodland Hills 8
The visiting Gators raced to a 17-0 first-quarter lead and coasted to a Big East victory against their longtime tormentors.
Gateway (5-1, 2-0), No. 3 in the WPIAL, lost to Woodland Hills by three touchdowns each of the past two seasons and trails in the series, 16-5.
Leon Green scored two touchdowns, on a 55-yard pass from Robert Kalkstein and an 11-yard run, and Cam Saddler had two 2-yard scoring runs for the Gators. Green had three catches for 81 yards, Corey Brown three for 93, and Kalkstein was 7 of 15 for 160 yards.
Isaac McKenzie ran 3 yards for a score for the Wolverines (1-5, 1-1). Teammate Joe Shaffo was 14 of 28 for 163 yards, but was intercepted twice.
Upper St. Clair 35, Canon-McMillan 12
The visiting Big Macs took an early lead, then it was all Panthers in a Great Southern contest.
Five players scored touchdowns for Upper St. Clair (4-2, 1-1), which snapped a two-game losing streak. The Panthers have not lost three in a row in Jim Render's 29 seasons as coach.
Jeravin Matthews' 18-yard run gave Canon-McMillan (2-4, 0-2) a 6-0 lead in the first quarter. Upper St. Clair, however, took a 14-6 lead into the locker room on a Oliver Hawk's 9-yard run and Spencer Scott's 29-yard punt return.
Shane Brennan, who completed 11 of 15 for 140 yards, ran 1 yard, Adam Chrissis 85 yards and Grant Serdy 1 yard for Upper St. Clair scores.
John Billy raced 16 yards for Canon-McMillan's other touchdown.
Penn Hills 48, Fox Chapel 26
There was no folly in Tom Fulton's passing, as he completed 14 of 22 for 330 yards and four touchdowns as the Indians rolled to a Big East triumph at home.
Fulton hit Brandon Ifill for touchdowns of 73 and 15 yards and Dontae Brown for 50- and 35-yard scores. Ifill had five catches for 177 yards and Brown five for 124 for Penn Hills (3-3, 2-0).
Teammate Teddy Blakeman also had two scores, on runs of 50 and 3 yards, and finished with 98 yards on 14 carries.
Montay Green ran for scores of 1 yard and 35 yards and Donnie Fipple caught a 2-yard scoring toss from Julian Salerno for the Foxes (2-4, 0-2).
Latrobe 28, Connellsville 14
Trailing 14-7 in the third quarter, the visiting Wildcats came up with three unanswered touchdowns to defeat the Falcons in a Foothills matchup.
Latrobe quarterback Eric Shaffer tied the game, 14-14, with a 2-yard run in the third quarter. Brad Burkley's 32-yard bolt later in that quarter put the Wildcats (2-4, 1-1) up for good. Shaffer then added an insurance touchdown with a 13-yard pass to Ryan LaDuke.
Shaffer completed 8 of 14 for 133 yards. Burkley had 107 yards on 14 carries.
The Falcons (1-5, 0-2) scored first when Marcus Marietta returned an interception 30 yards in the second quarter. They took the lead once again, 14-7, when Lance Straughters returned the second-half kickoff 87 yards.
Latrobe overcame three turnovers to win. The Falcons lost the ball two times.
This rivalry goes back to 1906. Connellsville leads the series, 40-30-5.
Penn-Trafford 30, Hempfield 23
With the game tied, 23-23, Pat McEwen fired a 40-yard touchdown pass to Chris Rasky with 12 seconds remaining, giving the host Warriors (1-5, 1-1) their first victory of the season and leveling their Foothills record.
McEwen also threw an 8-yard scoring pass to Matt Schade and Justin Edwards scored on an 11-yard run and a 34-yard interception return.
R.J. Thomas ran for two scores for Hempfield (2-4, 1-1).
Kiski Area 28, Plum 17
The visiting Cavaliers pulled away to a Big East victory against the neighboring Mustangs.
Kiski hoisted its records to 4-2, 1-1. Plum dropped to 1-5, 0-2.
