Next time Mom says no spaghetti for breakfast, just tell her you're getting in touch with your Australian side.

Yes, a typical breakfast for our friends Down Under includes what we normally think of as a lunch or dinner entree. Not all countries consider bacon and eggs the breakfast of champions.

What different cultures serve for breakfast is one of the first observations that travelers make when visiting a foreign country (That and the different toilets). From ham-and-cheese sandwiches to seaweed and shellfish, here's a look at typical breakfasts served in 15 countries around the world.

Argentina

Tostado (grilled sandwich with ham and cheese) and espresso coffee

Australia

Baked beans and bacon or spaghetti on toast

Belize

Scrambled eggs, refried beans and corn tortillas

Costa Rica

Gallo pinto (beans and rice)

Egypt

Ful medames (a fava bean dish), pita bread and fried egg

England

Toast, jam, crumpets and tea

France

Yogurt, fresh croissants, pain au chocolat (chocolate wrapped in a pastry) and coffee

Greece

Spanakopita (pie made with spinach, feta cheese, green onion, egg and seasoning) and Greek coffee

Ireland

Eggs, rashers (bacon), bangers (sausages), white pudding (pork meat and fat, suet [raw beef or mutton fat], bread and oatmeal), toast with marmalade and coffee with cream

Israel

Vegetable salad, scrambled eggs, cheese, bread with butter and jelly, coffee and a cold drink

Italy

Cappuccino and brioche (a bread)

Japan

Tea, miso soup and rice with nori seaweed flakes

Philippines

Champurrado (sweet chocolate sticky rice porridge) with crisp-fried sun-dried fish

Russia

Hot tea, kasha (grain cereal) with tvorog (a soft curd cheese similar to ricotta) or sour cream and sugar
