The Good, the Bad and the Beautiful
Paris goes humanitarian, Lindsay goes nowhere and Trump, Cuban scrap
Thursday, September 27, 2007

Humanitarianism is hot!

Don't know if she'll utter that phrase, but Paris Hilton plans to get her cause on by visiting war-ravaged Rwanda in November.

"There's so much need in that area, and I feel like if I go, it will bring more attention to what people can do to help," she said.

Remember before Miss Paris even got out of jail she said she was turning over a new leaf and wanted to do something more substantive than posing on the red carpet and dancing on banquettes.

So we'll see if she keeps this "if I can help somebody" attitude up. We ain't ready to give her Angelina's crown just yet!

While we're talking about Paris, we'll let you know that she's become the most popular pop culture costume for Halloween, according to a survey by Shopping.com. Well, it's actually Paris dressed in a jail outfit that folks seem to have taken to for Halloween.

While we're on the subject of tarnished starlets trying to revive their image, we'll just tell you that Lindsay Lohan will not be leaving rehab anytime soon.

Word was Ms. LiLo was ready to leave Cirque Lodge in Utah any day now. However, her momma, Dina, says her baby girl ain't going nowhere.

"She has a few more weeks to grow and develop, and she is doing great," Dina told People.

That's good, because she's gonna need to be clear-headed to handle all her legal problems once she gets out.

In addition to all that driving, accident and drug possession stuff, the freckle-faced starlet has been named as the "other woman" in a divorce.

British heiress Stephanie Allen claims that Lindsay got a little too close to her husband, Tony Allen, while he was in rehab with the actress.

Of course, Tony denied, denied, denied, saying that he and Ms. Lohan are just great friends.

Speaking of people that need to grow and develop, apparently Donald Trump and our billionaire homeboy Mark Cuban have renewed their verbal jab-fest, according to Page Six.

Mark, who owns the Dallas Mavericks and is competing on ABC's "Dancing with the Stars," apparently threw the first punch. In an interview with Tony Potts, he called The Donald "a first class idiot! ... Nothing he says that comes out of his mouth has any validity or any value."

Then he started talking about all of the Trump Man's ventures that bear his name. "When you're so desperate to make a dollar you have to put your name [on] everything and then you have to comment on everything."

Well, you know Donald was not gonna take that.

"Mark is a total loser," he told Page Six.

He said some other stuff, too, but we don't have time for all that he said/he said stuff.

Remember that auction we told you about where the winner would get a non-speaking role in Will Ferrell's new movie?

Well, the part went to a 10-year-old, according to People.

The child's daddy, who wants to stay anonymous, bid $47,100.

The money will go to Cancer for College foundation, which provides scholarships for current and former cancer patients.

The bidder, who lives in Dallas, said winning the auction had a special meaning for him because he lost his mother to ovarian cancer.

Craig Pollard, who started the foundation and is a friend of Will's, has survived Hodgkin's disease twice.

While we're on the subject of movies, rumors are hotter then Jena, La., that Jessica Biel will play "Wonder Woman" on the big screen.

Warner Bros. won't confirm whether Justin Timberlake's latest squeeze has lassoed the role in their upcoming flick, "The Justice League of America," but it doesn't sound that farfetched.

JB is one of Hollywood's hottest hotties right now.

GBB wants to send a shout out to the Afro-American Music Institute celebrating its 25th anniversary tomorrow with a big party.

It's going to be all-the-way live with blues, jazz, Latin, R&B, spirituals, gospel, hip-hop -- just every kind of music -- and food and games.

You know, you can't find better people than Dr. James Johnson and his lovely wife, Pamela. They show you what can be done when you have a true partnership.

Now, that party's from 1 to 8 p.m.

Also want to say hola to all my Latin American and Caribbean cousins who'll be getting their fiesta on at the 28th annual Latin and Caribbean Festival at Pitt.

There's no charge for either event, so take all the kids.
