PG North: Seneca Valley grad near volleyball marks

Seneca Valley High School graduate Laurie Lindner is approaching two milestones for the Waynesburg University women's volleyball team.

Lindner, a 5-foot-7 junior outside hitter, has recorded 976 kills and 856 digs during her career.

Lindner is a three-year starter for the Yellow Jackets who was named to the second team of the Presidents' Athletic Conference All-Star Team the last two years. She broke into the starting lineup in 2005 and was named PAC Rookie of the Year after leading Waynesburg with 402 kills (3.59 per game) and 223 digs (1.99 per game).

This season, she has 187 kills (3.67 per game) and 202 digs (3.96 per game).

Winning the race

Pine-Richland graduate Bobby Regan won the first individual title of his collegiate cross country career at the Allegheny College Cross Country Classic Saturday.

Regan, a junior at Washington & Jefferson College, topped the 67-runner field in the 8K race with a time of 27:47. The Presidents took fourth place in the event.

Butler grad shuts 'em down

Butler Area graduate Jessica Onufer has recorded two shutouts for the Robert Morris College women's soccer team.

Onufer, a 5-8 senior and four-year starter, has allowed 12 goals in eight games and has a 2-4-1 record. She has made 63 saves, for an .840 save percentage.

Scores first touchdown

Ambridge Area graduate Craig Besong caught his first touchdown pass for Washington & Jefferson College in Saturday's 56-26 win over Oberlin.

Besong, a 6-3, 195-pound sophomore wide reciever, caught a 33-yard touchdown pass from Bobby Swallow during the Presidents' second possession.

He finished the game with four catches for 89 yards, and for the season has six catches for 96 yards.
