Billy Porter and Lenora Nemetz

More than 300 guests invaded the Mount Washington home of Peter Karlovich and Steve Herforth Thursday night for City Theatre's Season Shakeup Party. The new event was hosted by The Greenroom, a group of young professionals dedicated to spreading the word about City Theatre and the adventurous programming that has made it a Pittsburgh favorite. Many of the theater's South Side neighbors (including Folino's Ristorante, Dish Osteria, Nakama, The Library, Elixir and the Firehouse Lounge, vising from the Strip) joined in the fun by donating the food and drink stationed throughout the house.

The evening began with the presentation of the Frankel Awards, sponsored by longtime board member Bob Frankel (with Rebecca) and given to past board chair Dee Jay Oshry and actor Billy Porter. Presenters Gerri Kay (to Oshry) and Lenora Nemetz (to Porter) both delivered heartfelt remarks that moved the audience as much as the honorees.

Among those sampling a divine chocolate banana cordial were City Theatre's artistic director Tracy Brigden and managing director Greg Quinlan, Nancy Washington, BJ Leber, Pam and Ken McCrory, Jim and Electra Agras, Kate Whitmore, Courtney Curotola, Tacy Byham and Carter Byham, Tara Reiland, Adrian Garber, Liz Kennon, Clyde Jones, Robert Morris, Christina Feden, Blare O'Toole, Harris and Janet Ferris, David Dulik, Vicki Crowley, Allison Jones, Racheallee Lacek, Elliott Oshry and state Rep. Dan Frankel with Debbie.

Cline at the Cabaret

They weren't "Walkin' After Midnight" but the Civic Light Opera Guild was talkin' after midnight about what a good time the "Evening at the Cabaret" was Thursday. The event, chaired by CLO Guild president Arlene Sokolow (with Barry) and Violet Gallo (with Judge Robert), included drinks, dinner and a performance of "Always ... Patsy Cline" at The CLO Cabaret at Theater Square. Among those enjoying the show were CLO executive producer Van Kaplan, 2007 Pink Frolic chairs Lynn Federle, Dani Greco and Judy Woffington, Dolores Bold, Catherine Loevner, David Bush with Tim McVay and his mother Mary, Steve and Helen Hanna Casey, Andy Shick with Irene Walker and Dr. Audrey Zelkovic and Alana and Anthony Sacco. -- Patricia Sheridan
