Education
The Early Learning Institute named Charles R. Quillin, Robert M. Gates, Roger Barna and By Williams as emeritus trustees of its board. Mr. Quillin is university relations associate, vice president for student development, dean of students emeritus and a professor of biology, Point Park University. Mr. Gates is retired from Alcoa where he was the manager of salary plans. Mr. Barna worked for Mitsubishi Electric Power Products Inc. Mr. Williams is retired from a career at WPXI.
Dr. Tammy Hughes, associate professor in Duquesne University's Department of Counseling, Psychology and Special Education, is president-elect of the American Psychological Association's division of school psychology.
Paul-James Cukanna was named associate vice president for enrollment management at Duquesne University.
The Association of American Medical Colleges named Steven L. Kanter, M.D., new editor-in-chief of its monthly, peer-reviewed journal, Academic Medicine. He is vice dean of the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine, where he oversees faculty affairs and all academic programs.

Eckert Seamans Cherin & Mellott said Arun J. Thomas was named a member, practicing in the litigation division, where he focuses on product liability and mass tort law.

Pittsburgh native Pat Wynn was named vice president, Specialty Retail, Borders Group Inc., Ann Arbor, Mich. Ms. Wynn is responsible for sales, profitability, management, policy and program execution, and overall material performance of more than 500 stores in the Waldenbooks Specialty Retail segment. She graduated in 1969 from Sacred Heart High School.
