Education

The Early Learning Institute named Charles R. Quillin, Robert M. Gates, Roger Barna and By Williams as emeritus trustees of its board. Mr. Quillin is university relations associate, vice president for student development, dean of students emeritus and a professor of biology, Point Park University. Mr. Gates is retired from Alcoa where he was the manager of salary plans. Mr. Barna worked for Mitsubishi Electric Power Products Inc. Mr. Williams is retired from a career at WPXI.

Dr. Tammy Hughes, associate professor in Duquesne University's Department of Counseling, Psychology and Special Education, is president-elect of the American Psychological Association's division of school psychology.

Paul-James Cukanna was named associate vice president for enrollment management at Duquesne University.

The Association of American Medical Colleges named Steven L. Kanter, M.D., new editor-in-chief of its monthly, peer-reviewed journal, Academic Medicine. He is vice dean of the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine, where he oversees faculty affairs and all academic programs.

Health & Medicine

The Children's Institute added to its medical staff Laura Gorham, M.D.; Maryanne J. Henderson, D.O.; and Ewa Brandys, M.D.

Law

Eckert Seamans Cherin & Mellott said Arun J. Thomas was named a member, practicing in the litigation division, where he focuses on product liability and mass tort law.

Zimmer Kunz named Joseph Petrina and Ryan Krescanko associates. Mr. Petrina joined as a senior associate in toxic tort litigation and employment law. Mr. Krescanko is in the asbestos litigation group.

Manufacturing

Koppers Inc. promoted Ryan Daugherty to director, internal audit.

Tube City IMS Corp. said Simon Golding joined its Tube City division as vice president of logistics and related business, based at the Glassport office.

Marketing

MatchPoint Marketing hired Russell Ferrara and Nina Snizaski as account coordinators, and Ryan Smith as a field promotions coordinator; and it promoted Erika Kovac to account executive.

Nonprofit

The National Aviary named Steven J. Sarro to the newly created position of director of animal programs.

Good Samaritan Hospice, a mission of Concordia Lutheran Ministries, named Anzie Kelley executive director.

Concordia Lutheran Ministries promoted Shawnee Neff to director of nursing at the Cabot location.

The Make-A-Wish Foundation of Greater Pennsylvania and Southern West Virginia appointed to its board: Bernard J. Costello, chief, pediatric oral and maxillofacial surgery, Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh and the University of Pittsburgh; Bob Evans, senior vice president and editorial director, CMP Technology LLC; and Jane Pressley Nicholson, assistant general council, Highmark Inc.

The Mergis Group said Michael Parbs joined as vice president.

DynaVox appointed Ed Donnelly chief executive officer.

Elsewhere

Pittsburgh native Pat Wynn was named vice president, Specialty Retail, Borders Group Inc., Ann Arbor, Mich. Ms. Wynn is responsible for sales, profitability, management, policy and program execution, and overall material performance of more than 500 stores in the Waldenbooks Specialty Retail segment. She graduated in 1969 from Sacred Heart High School.
